About Gujarat State Social Security Board - GSSSB

Introduction

As the Government of India has enacted the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act, 2008, the Government of Gujarat has formed the Gujarat State Unorganized Workers Social Security Rules 2011 vide notification dated 19/09/2011 under this Act.

To provide social security to the registered unorganized workers the Government of Gujarat has constituted The Gujarat State Social Security Board under section 6 of the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act, 2008.

The headquarter of the Gujarat State Social Security Board is at Gandhinagar. Hon'ble Minister of Labour, Skill Development and Employment is ex-officio Chairman of the Board, while the Secretary, Department of Labour, Skill Development and Employment is ex-officio Member Secretary of the Board. The Labour Commissioner serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Board.

Objective and Aim of Working

This board has been constituted with the objective of providing social security to the registered unorganized workers of Gujarat State, carrying out various activities of economic, social, educational and cultural development and promoting such activities run by the Government and Semi-Government organizations so that these workers can take advantage of them. In order to fulfill this objective, the Board aims to carry out the following activities for the unorganized workers:
